Remote from another product controls Bose system

If a remote other than your Bose remote is unexpectedly controlling your system, try the following:

If the other remote is programmable, try clearing and then reprogramming it.

If the other remote is a learning or universal remote, it may have been previously programmed to control your system. Try clearing that remote and then reprogramming it only for the devices you want it to control.

If connected via HDMI, check the CEC settings in the menus of the connected devices.

Many devices that connect with HDMI feature CEC (Consumer Electronics Control). This lets those devices respond to changes made on other connected HDMI devices (i.e. volume, TV input, channel, etc.). While this is often a convenient feature, it can occasionally cause issues between different brands and models. Check the menus of the devices connected with HDMI and try adjusting the CEC settings, then check for improvement. (Tip: Depending on the brand, CEC may be referred by a different name in the device menu. For more info, see Names used by different brands for CEC.)

If the issue is with Volume or Mute controls, try teaching your product the Volume and Mute commands of the remote you want to use.

Your product can learn Volume and Mute commands from another remote. This is useful if you have another remote you want to use instead of your Bose remote. For more info, see Using another remote to control your Bose system.

Move the conflicting products farther away from each other.

If the remote for your product and the other device control one another, try separating your product and the device so that the remote sensors on the product and device are in different areas.

Check for and install any available product updates.
