Sound troubleshooting

No audio from connected source

check to see if the problem occurs with external sources only. try playing an fm radio station. if the problem occurs with the radio, see below for no audio from internal source

If it's a problem with a connected source, check to see that the correct source is selected. The wrong source may be selected. For example, an external device may be connected to input 1, but a source other than input 1 may be selected

Make sure nothing is connected to the headphone jack. The speakers are automatically muted when headphones (or any cable with a 0.32 cm stereo plug) are connected to the system

Verify that the connected source is powered on

Reseat the connected audio cable at both ends. Ensure that the audio cable (optical, analogue and/or HDMI®) is fully connected at the source and at the back of the control console

No audio from internal source

Verify that the Acoustimass® module LED is on. The Acoustimass® module LED will illuminate when properly connected to an active media centre. If the LED is not illuminated, verify that the Acoustimass® module is connected to a working outlet

Make sure that the audio input cable is connected properly. The audio input cable that connects between the media centre and Acoustimass® module may have come loose or may be connected incorrectly

Check the condition of the audio input cable. Make sure that there is nothing broken inside either end of the mini-din connection. Check for any kinks or cuts. If the cable is broken or damaged in any way, replace the cable

Make sure nothing is connected to the headphone jack. The speakers are automatically muted when headphones (or any cable with a 0.32 cm stereo plug) are connected to the system

Perform a product reset. Turn the system off, unplug from power for 60 seconds, reseat the audio input cable at both ends, reconnect power and try the system again

Some of my speakers are not working.

Check to see that correct speaker mode and volume level are set. If the centre speaker is not playing, make sure the system is in three- or five-speaker mode and the centre speaker volume is adjusted appropriately. If the rear speakers are not playing, make sure the system is in five-speaker mode and the surround speaker volume is adjusted appropriately

To change speaker modes, follow these steps:

Turn the TV on and select the TV video input that connects to the system

press the right arrow to highlight the "options" icon; then press ok

press left or right to select: "stereo (2)," "front (3)" or "surround (5)," then press exit to leave the menu

Make sure nothing has come unplugged or disconnected at the speaker or at the Acoustimass® module
